This is the closest Cothi beat to Llangunnor
From Llangunnor head East on the B4300 towards and pastCapel Dewi after 3.7 miles turn left onto the B4310 Nantgaredig road drive to the A40 junction (1.1 miles) If you go straight on here onto the B4310 it will take you to other Cothi beats. Turn left onto the A40 for Pontargothi after 0.7 miles, just before the bridge turn Left onto a side road leading to Holy Trinity church. In half a mile you will see a hardcored area on the left just before a bungalow – this is our car park, access to our beat is through a gate opposite (Leaving the wooded field to the left.)
From Llandeilo take the same road from Ffairfach but after four miles turn right onto the B4297 Dryslwyn road, after 1.7 miles turn left onto the A40 and travel 3.7 miles to Pontargothi, turn right after crossing the bridge heading for Holy trinity church.
Alternatively drive through Llandeilo and turn left at the roundabout on to the A40 and drive 9 miles to Pontargothi.
This beat is about 200 yards long single bank fishing in a wooded gorge fishing is possible from the bank over most of the beat, it is possible to fish with fly and quite a few sea trout have been caught here with this method.
Sea trout move into this beat fairly quickly , not being far from the confluence with the Towy through the Abercothi estate. There is a river monitoring station just upstream of the beat.
