New NRW Bylaws

Please take note that the new NRW bylaws come into force this season, NO salmon can be killed but must be returned promptly to the water alive. There are also new rules for sewin and hooks

The regulations as apply to the Towy and Aman are below:

Salmon

Loughor (Aman) Salmon season – 20th March to 17th October

Towy (Cothi) salmon season – 1st April – 17th October (1st April – 7th October on club waters)

Strictly no worming for salmon

All salmon must be released with minimum injury and delay (catch and release only)

Shrimp or prawn may be used from 1st September to 7th October

SEWIN

Loughor (Aman) Sewin season, worm – 1st May – 7th October,

Fly/spin from 20th March to 17th October

Towy (Cothi) sewin season – worm, 1st April – 7th October (1st April – 7th October on club waters)

Fly/spin from 1st April to 17th October (1st April – 7th October on club waters)

All sea trout caught prior to the 1st May to be released with minimum injury and delay

All sea trout greater than 60cm (approx. 5lb12oz) to be released with minimum injury and delay

Worm can only be used between 1st May and 7th October

Worm fishing is only allowed for sea trout with a single worm using a single barbless hook with a gape less than 8mm.

Hooks

All hooks must be barbless or de-barbed

On artificial flies with a hook gape greater than 7mm, hooks are restricted to singles or doubles

On artificial flies with a hook gape 7mm or less, hooks are restricted to a maximum of two hooks with a total of four points between them

No treble or double hooks are permitted on lures used for spinning

Spinners and spoons can have only one single hook with a gape of 13mm or less.

Plugs can have a maximum of three single hooks, each with a gape of 13mm or less.

Shrimp and prawn fishing for salmon is allowed from the 1st September until 7th October with the use of a barbless, single treble hook with a gape of less than 7mm.

A limit of 2 migratory fish (sewin) may be killed in any 24 hour period

Notwithstanding this information, each member must ensure that they always fish within the rules set down in the NRW byelaws – it is your responsibility to check.
